NSCDC Deploys 1,900 Personnel For Easter Operations In Edo

No fewer than 1,900 personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo, have been deployed for special operations for the Easter celebration.

This is contained in a statement on Wednesday by Mr Richard Ogbebor, the command Public Relations Officer and made available to Newsmen in Abuja.

Ogbebor said that the deployment followed the directive by Mr Samuel Dan, the State Commandant of the corps, in line with the Commandant-General of the corps order.

He quoted Dan as saying that the massive deployment of personnel was to ensure that every nook and cranny of the state was adequately manned by personnel.

Dan said this was to forestall breakdown of law and order during the celebration.

He also said that it was to ensure that the state enjoy a crime free and very secured and protected celebration.

He explained that the operatives would provide security at public places including markets, recreation centres, worship centres as well as other crowded places

He disclosed that the personnel were drawn from Operations, Counter Terrorism, Disaster Management, Anti Vandal and Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear Units of the command.

The commandant pledged the command’s commitment to ensure adequate security in the state during the period and cautioned youths in the state against all forms of violence and unwholesome acts.

He urged residents of the state to embrace the long established culture of brotherly love, unity, peace and respect for constituted authority.
