NiDCOM moves to secure release of Nigerian jailed in Cote d’Ivoire

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has commenced moves to secure the release of a Nigerian, Itunu Babalola, who was wrongfully incarcerated in Cote d’Ivoire.
Babalola, NiDCOM said, was imprisoned for a crime she knew not about.
She was initially sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for an alleged human trafficking offence.

The sentence was however reduced to 10 years of which she has spent two years in prison
In a statement on Friday, NiDCOM stated by its findings, there were elements of conspiracy against the Nigerian by the authorities.
NiDCOM however said it has commenced plans to engage a lawyer to handle the review.
