NATCOM remains committed to national security – Adegbenro

The National Commission for the Co-ordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons (NATCOM) has reiterated commitment to the national security and prosperous nation.

The Acting Director-General of NATCOM, Dr. Adejare Rewane Adegbenro, who made the commitment, in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State, emphasized the collective efforts of all citizens towards ending insecurity in the country.

Adegbenro called on staff of the commission to uphold discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties, warning against any acts of indiscipline or breach of trust.

He commended the successful completion of the NATCOM orientation/awareness training programs held in Delta, Ogun States, the FCT, and various states across the nation, applauding President Bola Tinubu for fostering an enabling environment for the orientation.

He equal commended Senator representing FCT, Ireti Kingibe for her unwavering support and dedication to youth employment initiatives, as well as
all security agencies and traditional rulers for their support and contribution to the success of the initiative.

He appreciated the collaborative partners both local and international, including the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Community Impact Affinity (CIA), EuroPolice Federation, EmployMeIreti Hope4Jobs, and principal partner ECOWAS.

Adegbenro expressed gratitude to the legislative arm of government for their unwavering support in the harmonization of the NATCOM bill, emphasizing its significance in addressing youth employment and security challenges.

While congratulating participants and management of the commission, Adegbenro emphasized that the orientation marks the beginning of NATCOM’s mission to safeguard the nation through effective security intelligence and control of arms proliferation.

He noted that announcement regarding training in other states would be communicated through official channels in the coming weeks.
