Man lynched over ‘missing’ genital organ in Abuja

A middle-aged man, identified as Alhaji Tijani Yakubu, has been lynched by an angry mob for allegedly causing disappearance of one Emmanuel Danladi’s genital at Kabusa village in Abuja.

The FCT Police Commissioner, Haruna G Garba, disclosed this during a press briefing at the police command headquarters in Abuja, on Wednesday.

He said the police operatives from Kabusa division after receiving a distress call, swung into action and rescued both the victim and the suspect.

The CP said both were taken to a hospital for medical attention.

He said, “Unfortunately, Alhaji Tijani who was attacked by the mob for causing the disappearance of the man’s manhood was later confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. However, the male genital of Emmanuel Danladi who raised the false alarm that his penis had disappeared was confirmed intact and active by medical doctor,” he said.

He said Danladi, who raised the false alarm was in police custody along with two others who resorted to mob action that led to the death of the victim, adding that the suspects would be arraigned upon conclusion of investigation.

According to him, a similar incident happened after a distress call that one Mathew Michael was about to be lynched by an angry mob at Apo Primary School, saying the police operatives from Apo division swiftly mobilised to the scene and rescued the man.

He said an unidentified lifeless male body was also discovered on the road, saying preliminary investigation revealed that the said Mathew Michael and one Ezekiel, a wanted and notorious cultist, lynched the victim.

He said the suspect was cooperating with the police in an effort to arrest his accomplice who was on the run.

CP Haruna further disclosed that a stolen vehicle was recovered by the police operatives from Utako division, after a report from one Sunday Clement Idemudo that his Toyota Corolla with registration number ENU 104 JZ was missing.

The police commissioner said the car was removed from where it was parked along Michael Opara Way, Wuse Zone 5 at the close of work, saying police operatives from Utako division upon receiving the distress call, swung into action, tracked and recovered the vehicle at toll gate in Kaduna State with the help of reconstructive digital analysis tracking.

Garba, who gave the names of the suspects as Mohammed Yunusa Dibal and Ibrahim Haliru, said they were arrested in possession of the car.

He said the suspects were cooperating with the police in an effort to apprehend their accomplices on the run.
