Death toll in Bauchi alms stampede rises to 7 – Police
Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that three injured women have died from the Zakaat collection stampede in Bauchi.
Daily Trust reported the death of 10 people from family sources during the Zakkat collection stampede Sunday at the headquarters of AYM Shafa office but the police insisted that only four people died at the stampede as of Sunday.
The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, who disclosed this Monday said, “Medical Doctor at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) has confirmed that three more women died at the hospital among those brought for treatment.”
Wakil gave their names as Aisha Usman, aged 13 years; Sahura Abubakar, aged 55 years, Aisha Ibrahim Abubakar, aged 43; Kobi Street Bauchi; and Khadija Isah, aged 8 years Karofi Bauchi.
The rest are Maryam Suleiman, aged 20 years of Kandahar Bauchi; Maryam Shuaibu, aged 16, of Gwangwangwan Bauchi; and 53 years Hassana Saidu, of Dutsen Tanshi Bauchi.
Wakil added, “These are the number of victims confirmed dead by medical doctors. More details will be made available to the public as the command receives them.”
