29 May: Police beef up security, warn miscreants, thugs against theft, vandalism in Yobe

The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Garba Ahmad, has deployed both personnel and operational assets to fortify the 27th August, Stadium, Damaturu, venue for the inauguration of the governor-elect, Mai Mala Buni.

This is to ensure the security and safety of all guests and well-wishers at the venue.

This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, and made available to DAILY POST in Damaturu.

According to the statement, the police, in collaboration with sister security agencies in the state, urged the good people of the state to shun violence and warn their wards from engaging in any acts that may be detrimental to the peaceful conduct of the ceremony, as the police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anybody found wanting.

The command, through the PPRO, warned miscreants and thugs who are in the habit of vandalizing and stealing properties to avoid the venue.

“Henceforth, such acts will be met with stiff resistance, anyone found destroying and stealing or carrying arms such as sticks, cutlasses and knives, or aiding some people to do so within the vicinity or outside the stadium will face the full wrath of the law”, the statement warned.

The command also called on all and sundry to cooperate with the police and sister security agencies in the state by giving credible information and reports on any suspicious movement(s), person(s), vehicle(s) or activities at all times.

The State Commissioner of Police, however, enjoined personnel deployed for the assignment to be professional, but firm in performing their duties.
