2 arrested for burning village, killing 3 in Cross River 

Police have picked up two of the suspects alleged to have killed three persons last weekend and burnt down Nta village in Ikom LGA of Cross River State. 

Though their names were not readily known, they reportedly led the burning down of the said village.

They were arrested in Obubra LGA but initially detained in Ikom LGA for few days before they were moved to the state police headquarters, Calabar on Friday for further interrogation.

The divisional police officer in Ikom, Teryima Anthony, confirmed the arrest and detention, adding that more suspects would be arrested.

Other police sources in Calabar disclosed that more suspects woul be picked up, not just the youths who spearheaded the mayhem.

Survivors and other Nta community elders, including Chief Assi Njan Batta, His Highness Livinus Mfono Nton as well as the youths president, Agbor Nkoro Mgbang, also appeared before the police in Calabar where they narrated their ordeals in the hands of their attackers.

Last week, a communal strife which has been on since 1993 between the people of Ofunokpan in Mbembe tribe in Obubra LGA and Nta community in Ikom LGA was reignited where the three were killed and houses burnt in Nnaorokpa community in Nta, Ikom.
