Meter Installation, Deployment Remains Free – KEDCO

The Head of Communication, Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), Ibrahim Shawai, has said that meter deployment and installation do not come at a price, as they are free.

Shawai disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Kano State, according to NAN, after the company received claims of customers paying “indirectly” for meters.

He said, “This is totally out of place as we have never collected money for meter or installations.

“It is as a result of our support for the Federal Government Mass Metering programme where thousands of meters have been installed at different households under our franchise.

“Anyone disguising as KEDCO staff or conniving with any of our staff to extort customers, such persons would not be spared but prosecuted in line with the provisions of the law when caught.”

Shawai also added that its monitoring team reached out to customers who confirmed that they had not paid any fee for meter installation in their communities.
