VIDEO: Unrest In Lagos Over The New Naira Notes

The lack of the new naira notes and the difficulties the policy has caused Nigerians have caused rioting in several areas of Lagos.

According to reports, suspected thugs attacked commuters and caused mayhem on the expressway in the Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota districts.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the unrest happening in the Mile 12 area of Lagos State.

He made this known via his Twitter handle on Friday.

Responding to a tweet asking the PPRO to confirm the rumour, Hundeyin replied, “ It is true. Our men are there. Reinforcement units have been deployed. Stay safe out there as we closely monitor and manage the situation.”

Lagos Police Restore Peace

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed that the initial unrest that broke out at the Mile 12 area of Lagos State is under control.

The state police PRO also confirmed that free movement has been restored to the area.

Hundeyin, who initially confirmed the unrest, has now said that sanity has been restored to the area, adding that men of the Lagos State Police Command are on the ground to ensure no further breakdown of law and order.

Making this known via his Twitter handle, he wrote, “Free movement of vehicles and people fully restored. Our officers and men are still on ground to prevent any breakdown of law and order.”

Hundeyon also retweeted a tweet from a Twitter user who confirmed that sanity has been restored to the area.

The tweet read, “Road is clear now, na there I pass now to Ikorodu.”
