Police arrest 3 over cultism in Rivers

Three alleged members of a cult that terrorizes communities in Ogoniland have been detained by Rivers State Police command agents.

The suspects also had a weapon that was built in the area.

According to a statement released by the command’s public relations officer on Wednesday, troops from the command’s anti-cultism section carried out the operation following a tip from the Gure village in Khana Local Government Area of the State.

The operation was carried out on January 9 when the police assaulted the cult gang’s camp.

According to the statement, those detained include Myimaka Only, Junior Mbo, and Kensuanu Loveday, who is allegedly the cult gang’s executioner.

The accused will be charged in court after investigations, according to a police spokesperson.

She reiterated the command’s commitment to keeping crime and criminality to a minimal.
