Katsina: Eight Lives Lost As Heavy Flood Ravages Buhari’s State

The President’s home state, Katsina has been faced with a natural disaster as heavy flood killed, destroyed lives and properties worth millions of naira.

Topnewsnaija gathered that the flood issue is a recurrent one as all the 34 Local Government Areas have been hit since January 2020.

According to the Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (KSEMA), the recent flood took the lives of eight people, 17 injured while 25,961 buildings and 7,019 hectares of farmlands were affected.

The Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Mohammed stated that the 103 houses were affected by floods in Kankara LGA, the lowest number, while Katsina LGA recorded the highest with 3,568 houses affected.

He, however, urged the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist the victims.
