Gunmen abduct Customs officer’s pregnant wife, four family members in Abuja

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly kidnapped a Nigeria Customs Service senior officer’s pregnant wife and four other family members at Shagari Quarters, Dei-Dei, a suburb of Abuja.

Vigilante sources disclosed this to DAILY TRUST, noting that the incident happened on Sunday.

However, when DAILY POST contacted the spokesperson of the Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Monday, he said he was unaware of the incident.

“I am just hearing about the incident now,” Maiwada said.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the gunmen arrived in the area around noon and went straight to the senior Customs officer’s compound, where they picked his wife, three of his children and a younger brother.

“They spent more than two hours before proceeding to the neighbouring Dakwa community.

“The man used to work in Abuja, with the Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) always parking around his house. But they are no longer around following his deployment to Lagos, though his family is still living in the compound,” a vigilante source told DAILY TRUST.

It was gathered that the gunmen later released the officer’s wife, who was said to be heavily pregnant.

But they left with his children and younger brother.
