Court remands man for allegedly defiling neighbour’s daughter

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of Haruna Abdullahi, 27, who allegedly defilied his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter, in a correctional facility.

According to NAN, the Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take Abdullahi’s plea for want of jurisdiction, ordered that he be remanded.

Emmanuel ordered the police to send back the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice and adjourned the case until June 26.

Haruna, who lives in Kinkinau Kaduna, was charged with one-count of defilement.

The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the offence was committed on May 3, at the residence of the defendant.

He said the defendant called the girl into his room with the pretense of sending her on an errand, but shut the door and defiled her.

He said that the offence contravened Section 244 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
