18-seat bus crashes in Taraba leaving several passengers injured

An accident involving an 18-seater bus belonging to Kakara Transport Nig. Ltd. occurred in Gashaka Local Government Council of Taraba State.

The accident, which occurred just after the old bridge, a few metres away from Serti, the administrative headquarters of Gashaka Council, left several passengers with various degrees of injuries.

The driver of the 18-seater bus, travelling from Gembu to Jalingo, reportedly lost control after the two back tyres burst.

Eyewitnesses who spoke with DAILY POST attributed the accident to alleged overloading.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, the two back tyres of the bus burst due to overloading.

The vehicle somersaulted three times before it came to a stop after hitting a dry piece of wood.

Though no life was lost, several passengers were confirmed to have sustained various degrees of injuries, which include fractures and internal injuries.

Confirming the accident, a senior staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, told DAILY POST they were aware of the accident but had not ascertained the level of the damage.

According to eyewitnesses, some of the injured passengers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and were reportedly responding to treatment at the time of filing this report.
