Sexual Harassment: Why Barakat’s Father Withdrew Case Against Ogun Commissioner

Adesola Melojuekun, the father of Barakat, has said that he wants sexual harassment allegations against Ogun State Commissioner for Environment Abiodun Abudu-Balogun closed.

TopNewsNaija reports in a viral video days ago, Barakat accused Abudu-Balogun of caressing and touching her breasts while reciting incantations.

Subsequently, the commissioner was suspended by the State government as police commenced an investigation.

However, the 16-year-old girl, in another video said she wanted the matter laid to rest after Abudu-Balogun was suspended.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to meaningful Nigerians to please allow this matter to rest,” she said.

In the same vein, her father came out to say he wanted the case closed because he discovered some misconceptions.

Adesola said “There were a few misconceptions and misunderstanding along the line between my daughter and the Commission.

“Having discovered this, I deem it fit to inform the public and the international community that this matter should be laid to rest.

“As the father to Melojuekun Barakat, I want to appeal to the public, the international community, and the media that I don’t have interest in this matter again.

“I am withdrawing my case and I want them to support me the same way they did in the beginning of this matter,” the father pleaded.
