U.S. President Donald Trump says he does not regret going to war against Iran, regardless of the impact the conflict might have \u200bon the November midterm elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t believe in the word \u2018regret.\u2019 \u200cYou can always question yourself a little bit,\u201d Trump said in an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham when asked if he regretted the Iran \u200bwar due to the impact it may have on the \u200belections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf I had it to do again, I would do exactly \u2060as I did,\u201d Trump said in the interview broadcast on Thursday \u200bon \u201cThe Ingraham Angle\u201d show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump dismissed suggestions that some of his supporters were \u200bupset and demoralised about the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think they\u2019re demoralised,” he said. \u201cI think they\u2019re very proud of the fact that I\u2019m not letting Iran have a nuclear weapon.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump reiterated his thinking that the war will end immediately \u200bafter the midterm election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt ends right after the election,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He \u2060made similar comments on Wednesday, alleging Tehran was trying to influence the elections that will determine whether Trump\u2019s Republican Party retains control of Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rise in oil and gas prices due to the U.S.-Israeli \u200bwar on Iran \u200bhas become a \u2060major issue for Republicans in the lead-up to the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran on February 28, and Tehran responded with its own strikes on \u200bIsrael and \u2060Gulf states that host U.S. bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump has cited weakening Iran\u2019s nuclear \u2060capabilities \u200bas one of his war objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran does not have nuclear weapons and says its uranium enrichment programme is for peaceful purposes. The \u200bU.S. is nuclear-armed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
