Two remanded for murder in Ondo

Two persons have been remanded in Ondo State over the alleged murder of a middle-aged man on a farm in the Oke-Igbo axis of the state.

The suspects, Olaiya Tunde, 21 and Akinnuoye Festus, 24, were remanded at a Correctional Centre by a Magistrate Court sitting in Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of the state for killing one Pius Dada Omoniyi.

They were dragged before the court on two counts of murder and conspiracy which contravene Sections 316 and is punishable under section 516 and 319(1) of the criminal code, cap 37, vol. 1, laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Abdul Lateef Sule, the accused persons were said to have killed the deceased in a bush.

The Prosecutor added that after killing the deceased, the duo severed his head and as well removed his two arms and two feet.

He also informed the court that the crime was committed on August 14, 2020, at Awo road, Oke-Igbo area.

Sule requested the court to order the case file transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Oyedele Awe, who adjourned the case to April 30, 2021, subsequently ordered that the case file be transferred to the DP
