Movie Review: LA Femme Anjola would make you love Rita Dominic some more

[ad_1]

Finally, after the blockbuster movie, The Meeting, we get to see Rita Dominic and Mildred Okwo perform some more film magic on this highly anticipated movie, ‘La Femme Anjola’.

‘La Femme Anjola’ is a neo-noir crime thriller which features Rita Dominic, Chris Iheuwa, and Nonso Bassey as main characters.

Also featuring Femi Jacobs, Mumbi Maina, and Shawn Faqua, ‘La Femme Anjola’ which translates to ‘The Woman Anjola’ in English is written by Tunde Babalola.

The movie takes into consideration themes of Heroism and Villainy which is largely populated by the Film noir genre of Hollywood in the ’40s and ’50s but with a Nigerian twist.

The movie tells the story of Anjola Kalu (Rita Dominic), the wife of night club owner Odera Kalu (Chris Iheuwa) who falls for a young Stockbroker and part-time sax player, Dejare Johnson (Nonso Bassey).

Dejare was engaged to quite a successful, good woman but he wanted more from life. He wanted to explore life to the fullest. His quest gets him entangled in a dangerous romance with Anjola which turns his world upside down.

The story is quite different from the regular Nigerian stories. No time for hanky panky. It was strictly business.

Rita Dominic’s acting prowess remains unbeatable. Just like the proverbial wine that taste better as it ages, Dominic delivered her role to perfection!

Her dangerous but sizzling romance with Dejare was quite convincing, the seduction process well plotted and smartly delivered.

We also love the movie locations, beautiful places to behold; within Nigeria and Cape Town.
The picture quality and continuity commendable too.

With your hands on your chest, you would surely enjoy the plot twist of La Femme Anjola. The suspense was worth the wait.

Although at some point, you might get lost while trying to figure out the direction the movie was heading to.

The concluding part of La Femme Anjola’ was not as many had expected but you all know how we love it as Kemi Filani.

Aside the long duration (2hrs 30mins) of the movie, La Femme Anjola is absolutely recommended!
