Mohbad’s Mother, Actor Yomi Fabiyi Clash Over Allegations Against Singer’s Brother

The mother of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has clashed with Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi over allegations involving the singer’s brother, Adura.

Yomi Fabiyi recently filed a petition at the Lagos State Police Command, claiming that Adura initiated an Instagram chat in which he allegedly offered video evidence of Mohbad’s death for a payment of ₦3 million in Bitcoin. Fabiyi shared the petition on his social media platforms, alleging Adura’s involvement.

However, Adura denied the allegations, stating that the messages were sent by a friend to whom he had sold his phone.

At a press conference held on Wednesday at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, Fabiyi maintained that the messages came from Adura’s account and accused him of having knowledge about Mohbad’s death.

Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Aloba, defended her son, expressing her anger and heartbreak over the allegations. She stated that Adura had no knowledge of his brother’s death and would have spoken up if he did.

“They killed Mohbad, and now you want me to lose his brother unjustly. Adura knows nothing about his brother’s death. Don’t implicate my son. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura too,” she said emotionally.

Abosede further explained that a person named Damola was responsible for sending the message to Fabiyi using Adura’s account. She claimed that Damola had apologized to her after being confronted.

Fabiyi, however, insisted that his concern was the content of the message and not necessarily the sender. “It was Adura’s handle that sent me the message. If it wasn’t him, then who was it? If someone collected ₦3 million under false pretenses, should I stay silent?” he questioned.

The controversy adds another layer to the ongoing saga surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. The singer’s death has sparked widespread attention and led to multiple investigations, including the arrest of Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Music, where Mohbad was previously signed, and socialite Sam Larry.

Mohbad’s remains were exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy as part of efforts to determine the cause of his death.
