Joeboy Responds to Critics Labeling His Music as “Mid”

Nigerian singer, Joeboy, has hit back at critics who have been labeling his music as “mid.” The singer, whose real name is Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, has faced criticism on social media, with some claiming that his music lacks depth or originality.

In a recent appearance on the Backstage Banter podcast, Joeboy firmly rejected the “mid” label, arguing that his achievements and success speak for themselves. He emphasized that reaching such a level in his career at a young age and maintaining his composure shows that he is far from “mid.”

“There is nothing ‘mid’ about my existence. The fact that I have been able to get so far at such a young age in my career and still have my head on my shoulders is not ‘mid’ in any way,” Joeboy stated.

The artist also shared his belief that many of his critics are simply unhappy with their own lives. “I also feel like the people criticizing me are generally not happy with life. Because if you’re genuinely happy with your life, you would not pick up your phone and start attacking somebody,” he said.

Joeboy questioned the very notion of what “mid” means, suggesting that it has simply become a term used without much thought or understanding.
