Buhari nominates Ahmad Halilu as NASRDA DG, ask Senate to confirm him

On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to approve the appointment of Ahmad Shaba Halilu as the proposed Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA.

Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari spokesman, has sent a request letter to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

The President, in his letter to the National Assembly, said he was acting according to Section 14 (1) (2) of the NASRDA Act 2010.

Halilu has served as the Director in charge of the Strategic Space Applications of NASRDA, after which he became the acting Director-General of the agency.

He has taken part in workshops and conferences on Global Climate Change, Environmental Pollution, and Food Security; Future Earth Observation Satellite Programmes and Geospatial Information Management; and Geospatial Technologies for Economic Diversification, and many others.

Halilu previously worked at the National Population Commission, Federal University of Technology, Minna and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
