The department of State Services (DSS) has denied invading the CBN head office in Abuja or declaring the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele wanted as he resumed office after spending several weeks in the United Kingdom and the United States.
TopnewsNaija reported that Emefiele left the country last month following the decision of the DSS to arrest him.
In December, the secret service agency approached an Abuja court to arrest Emefiele over allegations bordering on financing terrorism and money laundering, among others.
The DSS was reportedly prevented from apprehending the CBN governor for alleged “acts of financing terrorism, fraudulent operations, and economic crimes of national security significance” by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
On December 7, 2022, the DSS filed a lawsuit asking for the CBN governor’s arrest. However, on December 9, 2022, Justice J.T. Tsoho turned down the request for the governor’s arrest.
