Over 40,000 Opposition Members Join APC in Katsina

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has officially welcomed more than 40,000 members of various opposition parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The large-scale defection, which took place at the State Government House on Tuesday, was marked by a ceremony where Governor Radda expressed appreciation for the new members’ decision to join the ruling party.

“Your decision to join our progressive movement strengthens our resolve to build a greater Katsina State,” Radda said, pledging inclusive leadership and urging APC officials to ensure the defectors are fully integrated into party activities.

Leading the defectors were former Deputy Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Yakubu Idris Dan Chafa and Hassan Suleiman Rawayau. Other notable figures included Isah Hamisu Dandume of the All Peoples Party (APP) and Musa Gafai, Chairman of Gafai Communication and a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives.

Several former state legislators, local government chairmen, and prominent opposition leaders were also part of the mass defection, which was described as a significant political shift in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Ya’u Umar Gwajo Gwajo, highlighted that the defectors represented a broad coalition of political parties, further solidifying APC’s position in Katsina State.
