Edo varsity rusticates 5 students, silent on offence
The management of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State has rusticated five students for a period of two semesters.
The rustication, which was approved by the acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, was contained in the school bulletin signed by O.O Ohikhena, Deputy Registrar (Senate) on behalf of the acting Registrar.
The management however didn’t give reasons for the rustication of the students.
Ohikhena listed the rusticated students to include Musa Abraham, Department of Sociology; Obhaluagbon Nosakhare David Department of Civil Engineering; Chukwuemeka Prosper Orevia, Department of Biochemistry, Omogui William A.M. Department of History and International Studies and Ehizokhale Favour Abu, Department of Civil Engineering.

The students were rusticated for two semesters with effect from the second semester of 2022/2023 academic session.
The notice read in part, “I am directed to inform you that the acting vice chancellor, has on behalf of the Senate and in exercise of the powers conferred him by the Ambrose Alli Univevsity, Ekpoma Law 1999 (as amended) and other regulations enabling him to act in that behalf, has approved that, the underlisted be rusticated for a period of two semesters.
“Accordingly, you are hereby rusticated for two semesters with effect from the second semester of 2022/2023 academic session
“For the avoidance of doubt, examinations taken and work done during the period of rustication should count since you were not on suspension.
“However, your results have to be withheld for four semesters of rustication, in which case, your results would be released after the second semester of 2024/2025 session”.
