Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed six persons in Dansadau town Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

A resident of the town who pleaded anonymity said in a telephone interview with DAILY POST that the bandits stormed the town at about 2:00 pm on Tuesday in their large numbers with motorcycles.

He further stated that the bandits started shooting sporadically along Dansadau Motor Park and Main Market, with four people sustaining various degrees of injury.

“When we saw the terrorists approaching fast, people started running for the safety of their lives but unfortunately, six of our people were killed by the bandits. Four people who sustained serious gunshot injuries are now receiving medical attention at our general hospital,” he said.

DAILY POST reports that Dansadau District in Maru LGA has become unaccessible, and is known as a colony of bandits for years.

Efforts by newsmen to reach the Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, Asp Yazeed Abubakar, failed as all his lines were not available as of the time of filing this report.
