NGO Donates Food Items To Widows, Vulnerable Persons In FCT Community

The Sharing Smiles Initiative (SSI), an NGO, has donated food items to no fewer than 150 widows and vulnerable groups in the Kuchiko community, a suburb in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

According to reports the items donated are bags of rice, cartons of noodles, cartons of spaghetti, tomato paste, groundnut oil, condiments and snacks.

Mr Micheal Ezie, Founder and Executive Director, SSI said that the donation was aimed at giving back to the less privileged persons in the society.

He said that the donation was done in the spirit of the Easter celebration, which emphasizes love, unity, peace and kindness.

“God loves us and that is why He sent his son to die for our sins and He mandated us to also love our fellow humans as ourselves and that is why we are giving back to the less privileged ones in this community.

“The beneficiaries are not just christians alone but it is open to people of all faith, considering the economic situation in the country.

“We will not stop here, we will be doing this continuously in vulnerable communities in the FCT and in other states, as our vision is to reach out to the motherless, the rejected ones and those who struggle to get one meal a day,” he said.

A beneficiary, Mrs Rosemary Clement, appreciated the NGO for the donation, adding that the kind gesture had brought succor to her and her children.

“These food items would go a long way in our lives because for some time now, it has been had for me to get money to feed myself and my children.

“But with this donation, I know that from now to few weeks from now, I will not have to think of food items at home,” she said.
